Neste Porvoo Refinery – extreme-climate fire-water protection

Finland’s largest port by tonnage, Neste’s Porvoo refinery stores almost 8 million m³ of product and handles 1,100–1,400 ships each year. With ambient temperatures ranging from –27 °C to +25 °C, the terminal needed a robust fire-fighting system capable of projecting water at least 120 m.

Our solution

  • 20-ft containerised, diesel-driven fire-water pump package – engineered for rapid deployment and year-round reliability
  • Remote-controlled roof-mounted monitor delivering 20,000 lpm with a 130 m throw and 40 m elevation, exceeding the terminal’s range requirement
  • Fully integrated subsystems for fuel, cooling, ventilation and exhaust, all sized for Arctic conditions
  • Redundant electric start and advanced fire-pump controller for assured availability
  • 1–3 % foam-mixing capability for hydrocarbon incidents
